Through the lens

What are you passionate about? Frederick Dharshie is passionate about photography. He also has a keen interest in humankind and the natural world. And so, through his lens, he tells stories that are close to his heart around environmental and humanitarian issues. Are you creating the change you want to see?

As a young girl, Shamiso Mupara's community experienced the adverse effects of drought. And in that difficult time, the people in her community began cutting down natural forests for firewood which led to persistent periods of drought. After leaving her home, she returned to create the change that she had wanted to see. Here is what she has been doing with the organisation she co-founded, Environment Buddies Zimbabwe. 

Our heart beats in the womb of the world

Think about the last film you watched. What did you learn from it? After watching Avatar: Way of the Water, Wilson Mwambogha was left in wonder, amazed by the beautiful cinematography and special effects. Beyond that, he found it very thought-provoking in the way it spoke of environmental issues. Here are the lessons he gleaned from the film.

It is all related

When she learned how to listen and look at the big picture, Belinda Low Mackey found that it is all related. Working with an organisation which mainly focuses on wildlife conservation, Grevy's Zebra Trust, she learnt that it goes hand in hand with environmental conservation. And to help conserve the environment, they had to inspire behavioural change in the communities around there, which called for an environment where everyone felt heard. There is hope…
